Apple finally realizes it can have more than one button on a mouse

August 3rd, 2005

All these years, Mac users had to press the ‘Control’ key and then click the mouse to access the alternative menu because the mouse is just one BIG button. After 10 years of being different, Apple is releasing a multi button mouse called the ‘Mighty Mouse’. Is anyone else noticing a trend here? Apple first switches to Intel and then changes the type of mouse that made them so different. Wonder what they will do next.

I’m not a Mac user, but the Mighty Mouse’s 360 degree scrolling capability looks nice at least… Mind you, I’m using an old rickety mouse myself, so any (other) mouse looks good at this point. :)

I can understand the need to be different, but two buttons is just plain better. I don’t even have a mouse; I’m on a lappy 2004 and it’s a pc. I do think the peeps at Mac are far more creative than the pc world.

No question that Mac has got some really innovative thinkers/developers. And to be honest, I like that they try to stay somewhat unique… variety is the spice of life.

I used to use a Mac at the office, and I miss those days… it was wonderful for desktop publishing. I don’t know that a Mac is ever in my personal future, can’t see you supporting that purchase :) and you are my techno-guru.
